On Monday 28th February 2005 Luna played their last show ever at The Bowery Ballroom in NYC. Luna's Last Waltz was an attempt to document the end of this fine band.
Thank you Franck for all these photos through the years. Given the passage of time and the ravages that it takes on my brain, these pictures will eventually become my memories. And what great memories they are!
it truly is an end of an era. A special one...because as we all know, not everyone knows of Luna. It is almost as if we are a member of some select club, set aside for special treatment. I'm sad, but all things come to an end. It truly is better to end too early, than to hang around and slowly eat away at once you once were. I commend the band for going out on their terms, at bittersweet as it is for all of us. I'll never forget what Luna has meant to me over the years, from those Winter Breaks in DC catching them at the 9:30 Club...so many memories, so many good times. I brought so many different people with me to shows, and all were just blown away. I think everyone is, when they first hear it...and we all know what 'it' is...Happy trails...and thanks for the many years of amazing music...
Tim said,...Great photos. I've followed Luna for probably 8-10 years. It's difficult to say goodbye so I didn't go to the final show. Instead I bought a bunch of new music. That didn't last. Most of it sucks. One hope is that I'll be able to find out what Dean is up to and hopefully it will still be musically related. A good concern note was a night in Chicago with no ticket and -20 below and I made my friend stand out there until we scored some tickets. After 40 minutes we go lucky and bought two for face value. I still remember that nice girl that did that for us. That was awesome!
